MoA to enhance teachers of special children

SIBU: Methodist Pilley Institute (MPI) and the National Early Childhood Intervention Council (NECIC) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) here yesterday in effort to enhance the training for teachers of children with special needs.

The MoA was signed by NECIC vice-president Dr Toh Teck Hock and MPI board of management chairman Chang Jih Ren witnessed by MPI principal Hii King Kai and Methodist Care Centre management board chairperson Kapitan Wong Hie Ching.

Chang in his address said: "Following the MoA signing, we are taking early childhood education one step further."

Meanwhile Dr Toh said NECIC is a coalition made up of 25 organisations in Malaysia, including three organisations from Sibu, namely the Association for Children with Special Needs Sibu, Methodist Care Centre and Sibu Autistic Association.

"Those involved in NECIC include parents, practitioners, professionals and government agencies. We fight for the rights to education for special needs children," he said, adding that they also seek inclusive education for these children.
